Welcome
to RuralFamilyVentures.org,
dedicated to helping you and your family improve the management of your
rural enterprises. To date the Rural Family Ventures team has completed
two surveys to better understand the challenges and issues rural
agricultural managers are facing in today's economy.
Profiling the Evolving Characteristics
and Needs for Risk Management Education of Commercial Agricultural
Producers in the Intermountain West is a project that focused on
commercial operations. Specifically, this project surveyed agricultural
managers reporting more than $50,000 in agricultural sales (2008) in the
three western states of Wyoming, Colorado, and Arizona. The intent is to
better understand the risks perceived by these operators, the types of
enterprises they manage, and their needs for educational information.

A New Look at the Agricultural Community
as Extension Clientele in the West focuses on smaller
agricultural
enterprises. This project surveyed operators reporting less than $50,000
in agricultural sales (2004) across Arizona, Colorado, and Wyoming.
It
is hoped that the survey results will help help identify alternative enterprises in the West and to
provide better educational offerings.
